Glass Adapters for Any Joint Size
A glass adapter converts the joint on your bong or dab rig so you can use accessories that would not otherwise fit. If your bong has an 18mm female joint and your banger is 14mm male, an adapter bridges the two — no new glass required.
Every AFM adapter is made from the same thick borosilicate as our bongs and rigs, so it will not crack under repeated heat cycling the way cheap adapters do. All six sizes are $5.
The three things you need to know before ordering:
- Diameter — 10mm, 14mm or 18mm. Measure the outer diameter of the male joint, or the inner diameter of the female one.
- Gender — male joints insert into female joints. Your bong's downstem opening is usually female; your banger or bowl is usually male.
- Direction — an adapter is named from its own parts, not your glass. A "14mm male to 18mm female" adapter has a 14mm male end and an 18mm female end.

Glass Adapter FAQ
What size adapter do I need for my bong?
Measure the joint you want to convert. Most bongs use 14mm or 18mm; smaller dab rigs often use 10mm. If a bowl or banger inserts into your bong, your bong's joint is female. If it slides over, it's male.
How do I measure a bong joint?
Measure the outer diameter of the male piece across its widest point. 10mm is roughly the width of a pencil, 14mm about a AA battery, and 18mm about a US quarter. If your bowl came with the bong, its joint size matches.
What is the difference between a male and female adapter?
Male joints insert into female joints. An adapter has one of each, or two of the same, depending on what it converts. The name always describes the adapter's own ends, not your glass.
Will an adapter affect airflow or my hits?
A correctly fitted glass adapter has a negligible effect. It adds a small amount of air path, which some people find slightly cools the smoke. It will not restrict a properly sized joint.
Can I use a 14mm adapter on an 18mm bong?
Yes — that is exactly what a 14mm male to 18mm female adapter does. It lets a 14mm banger or bowl fit an 18mm bong.
Are glass adapters universal?
Joint sizes are standardized at 10mm, 14mm and 18mm across the industry, so an AFM adapter fits any brand using those sizes. Angle is the thing to watch — a 45° joint needs a 45° accessory to sit correctly.
What are AFM adapters made of?
The same thick borosilicate glass as our bongs and rigs — sometimes also spelled glass adaptor — built to handle repeated heating without stress fracturing.
